Lauryn Hill is currently facing three years behind bars for failing to file her tax returns from the years 2005-2007. The 37-year-old critically acclaimed singer/rapper owes the government a whopping $1.8 million. On June 29th she plead guilty to the three misdemeanor charges which were filed in the U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey.
She was freed after paying a hefty $150,000 unsecured bond, but must return to court for sentencing on November 27th. Lauryn has openly stated in a public address letter explaining her side of the story, that she intends to pay back the $818,000 from 2005, $222,000 from 2006, and the $761,000 from 2007.
Her mug shot has recently been released, and the look on her face is a solemn one.

She hasn't sold a record in years. I doubt if she'll be able to pay that much money back any time soon. I'm surprised at Lauryn Hill for this one. But she wanted to move to the islands and have kids and not take care of her business, so there you go.
